1. Who this policy covers
This policy applies to Trevy, the travel-planning and shared-expense app. By using Trevy, you choose to store trip information in the app and, when you enable sharing, to make selected trip information available to the people you invite.
2. Information Trevy uses
Trevy may store and sync the following information when you choose to add it:
- Profile and account information: your display name, optional profile image, and an iCloud/CloudKit account identifier used to sync your data and manage sharing.
- Trip and money information: destinations, dates, currencies, expense names, amounts, notes, receipt images, split details, and settlement records.
- Plans and shared content: travel plans, folders, comments, reactions, links, place details, and images you add to a trip.
- Location information: precise coordinates and place names only when you choose to attach them to a trip, plan, or expense, or use a nearby-place feature.
- In-app connections: the Trevy friends and trip participants you choose to connect with, including their display names, profile images, and app-specific identifiers.
3. How Trevy uses that information
Trevy uses your information only for app functionality, including to:
- create, organize, and show your trips, budgets, expenses, and settlements;
- sync your Trevy data across your devices through iCloud and CloudKit;
- share the specific trips and planning content you choose with invited Trevy users;
- calculate currency conversions using the currencies you select;
- suggest and save places when you use location or map features; and
- send optional trip-related notifications if you allow notifications.
Trevy does not use your information for advertising, marketing profiles, or cross-app tracking. We do not sell your personal information.
4. Where information goes
Trevy uses Apple’s iCloud and CloudKit services to keep your data available across devices and to coordinate sharing. Shared-trip information is stored in CloudKit so invited participants can see and contribute to the trip you chose to share.
Trevy also uses Apple map services for maps, place search, and geocoding. When you request an exchange-rate update, Trevy contacts the Frankfurter exchange-rate service with the currency pair you selected. These services are used to provide the requested feature, not to advertise to you.
If you add a plan to your calendar, Trevy writes that plan to the calendar you select on your device. Trevy does not upload your calendar as a separate Trevy record. If you use the camera to scan a receipt, text recognition happens on your device before you review the result.
5. Sharing is your choice
A trip stays personal unless you share it. When you invite someone to a trip, that person can access the shared trip information needed to plan together and settle expenses, such as participant names, plans, expenses, and the images or locations attached to those items. Please share only information you are comfortable sharing with your travel group.
6. Permissions
Trevy asks for permissions only when you use the related feature:
- Photos: to add a receipt, cover image, profile image, or plan image.
- Camera: to scan a receipt or QR code.
- Location: to tag an expense or help find nearby places during a trip.
- Calendar: to add or keep a selected travel plan in a calendar you choose.
- Notifications: to keep you informed about the trips you choose to share.
You can decline or later change these permissions in your device settings. Core budgeting and trip planning remain available without optional permissions.
7. Retention, access, and deletion
Trevy keeps information in iCloud and CloudKit while your Trevy account and related trips remain active. You can remove individual trips, expenses, plans, images, and connections in the app. If the Delete Account option is available in your version of Trevy, it removes your local Trevy data, withdraws you from shared trips, removes your account’s sharing artifacts, and revokes access to trips you own.
You can also request access to or deletion of your Trevy data by emailing us. Shared-trip participants may retain content they added themselves, and ordinary service backups or synchronization delays may mean a deletion is not reflected everywhere immediately.
8. Security
Trevy relies on Apple’s CloudKit infrastructure for cloud storage and access controls. We take reasonable steps to keep the app’s data handling limited to the features described here, but no online service can promise absolute security.
9. Changes to this policy
If Trevy’s data practices change materially, we will update this page and revise its effective date before the change takes effect.
